Truth is Concrete

5.30 - 8.00pm Tuesday 25th November

The Green Room at Chelsea College of Arts, 16 John Islip Street, London, SW1P 4JU

Join us for the collective binding and celebration of the beautiful limited-edition souvenir UTOPOGRAPHIES: EVALUATION, CONSENSUS AND LOCATION

6pm. Introductions from Dr Dan Smith and the Critical Practice Research Cluster Interspersed with binding, launch and refreshments.

The souvenir helps remember how Critical Practice, a self-selected group of CCW students, and a collection of utopographers worked towards Evaluation, Consensus and Location in the Triangle Space at Chelsea College of Arts, on the 24th to 29th March 2014.

The theme of Evaluation - was to enable Critical Practice to develop its current research strand into value and evaluative communities - Consensus as its a problematic term for utopians, and Location, as we're all interested in being creatively estranged in time and space.

MayDay Rooms

11 Nov 2014

As part of an insurgent research group, on Tuesday 11th November we visited MayDay Rooms in London. We heard from Anthony Davies and Ian Boal (two of the co-founders) about the need they felt for a shared space; where dominant political narratives - like austerity measures, could be countered, where radical histories can be reactivated and extended, and archives of dissent constructed.

In Spring 2011, MayDay Rooms circulated a manifesto.
