Sequelism

As part of Sequelism; Possible, probable or preferable futures at the Arnolfini in Bristol, I screened Museum Futures: Distributed.

Museum Futures: Distributed is a machinima record of the centenary interview with Moderna Museet’s executive Ayan Lindquist in June 2058. It explores a possible genealogy for contemporary art practice and its institutions, by re-imagining the role of artists, museums, galleries, markets, manufactories and academies.

The screening was followed with a discussion led by Max and Mariana of Latitudes curators of Sequelism.

Sequelismis a cultural investigation into how representations of the future affect the present.

Sequelism is a research and exhibitions programme at Arnolfini considering envisionings of the future, through art, architecture and the infrastructure of the built environment. The project looks to research contemporary representations of the future, and how these representations, whether socially, economically or even ecologically focussed can be harnessed politically.  Sequelism's architectural imaginary will become a rhetorical tool for altering perceptions of the contemporary city.

Sequelism also incorporates a comprehensive season of archived films, screenings and discursive events.
